I am Go PoLLi

Growing up, our family kitchen was the heart of our home, but it was also the place where appliances went to “retire.” I remember the day our trusty old blender gave out during a family gathering. Instead of giving up, I took it apart, identified the issue, and to everyone’s surprise, brought it back to life. That moment transformed me from the family’s “tech helper” to the “appliance guru.” Over the years, I’ve delved deep into the world of home appliances, from studying their mechanics to understanding their technology. It’s this hands-on experience and genuine love for all things electrical that makes me uniquely qualified to guide you through your own appliance adventures.

I’m Imran D. Paul, but most people call me Polli. I’m an electrician/ electrical technician and also a repairman with over a decade of experience in the field of electronics and electricals. Let me take you through my journey.

I was born and raised on the enchanting Caribbean island of Dominica, known as the Nature Island. My childhood was marked by challenges, including losing my mother at a young age and frequent moves among family members.

Despite these hurdles, my fascination with electronics led me to pursue a degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Technology. My career started at Dominica Brewery and Beverages, where I worked as an electrical technician, specializing in repairing, installing, and maintaining electrical types of equipment/appliances.

In 2017, Dominica faced a catastrophic event when Hurricane Maria hit. This devastating hurricane wreaked havoc on our beautiful island and led to the closure of the brewery where I had been working.

Determined to continue my journey, I joined DOMLEC, the island’s electricity provider. Here, I specialized in repairing high-voltage transformers, gained expertise in safety and quality tests, and became proficient in commissioning new electrical equipment.

My thirst for knowledge didn’t stop there. I completed a Lineman training program, earning a certificate of accomplishment. This opened up new opportunities for me, including roles in retrofitting high-voltage switchgear and commissioning a brand-new generator.

Then came the unexpected challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, which cost me my job once again. I had to move back in with my aunt for support. During this time, I continued to work as an electric appliance repairman, collaborating with a former coworker.

As I look ahead, I’m venturing into entrepreneurship with a blog. Drawing from my extensive experience, I aim to provide valuable insights and recommendations to help others. My journey has been filled with ups and downs, but it’s my passion for electronics and a commitment to learning that have kept me going.

Imran D. Paul, known as Polli, and I’m excited to share my knowledge and experiences with you.
